Elementary Science Series: Water Works!
November 10, 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
To register please email Judy at email@example.com
Investigate some of the unusual properties of water. Partners experiment with water drops on pennies and waxed paper. Students observe and discuss the fascinating effect water has on items like M & M’s.
Each class (for students in grades 1 – 8) will begin at 10 AM in the Manito Park Meeting Room just east of Gaiser Conservatory and will last 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Classes are limited to 30 students so that everyone has space and materials with which to experiment and learn. Parents are welcome to attend as well but will be seated in “Observation Seats” around the classroom. Interest is expected to be high so you will want to register your child soon. To assure participation in these free programs you MUST register your child as walk-in space may be limited. Due to the nature of the classes, children who arrive late will not be able to participate since they will miss directions, ground rules, and safety rules. Please plan to arrive at Manito Meeting Room at least 5 minutes early so your child will not be disappointed.
Fred Stahl, Director of Partners for Science will be providing hands-on, inquiry-based science experiences each month beginning in June. A graduate of Cornell University and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Fred has been teaching science and math since 1967.
A resident of Spokane, Washington, he has worked steadily to bring about improved educational opportunities for teachers and students in area schools, across the U.S., and in foreign countries. He is passionate about hands-on science and has been featured at Valley Fest the past 3 years. We are very excited about having him do presentations for our young Friends of Manito.
